Back to the newz... (excuse my lack o' posting over the past month)

email comments to me - Hey, KoolAid!
Today's shocker - the debate schedule may actually be in the home stretch of final agreement. Scott McClellan's equivacation thereafter notwithstanding, the next month could get vewy intewesting (apologies to Mr. Fudd).

The always-current Howard Kurtz has yet another posting today on the CBS Forgerygate debacle, as viewed via the blogosphere. A must read. I must admit that I've always been a Rather fan - my childhood household was a CBS Evening News domain from well before Cronkite's final sendoff. But in this case, CBS really set itself up for a continued fall. As if any evidence was necessary, the always slimy-scooperific Drudge ups the ante.

Kerry's speech at NYU today (viewable on C-SPAN'S website) was a forceful re-entry into the debate about Iraq. Seriously. He may have screwed the collective pooch when he ad-libbed his "if I knew then what I know today" answer on the lip of the Grand Canyon in August. But even with all the inevitable flak he's sure to see in the days ahead (Bush lit the cannons on the stump early today), this most assuredly marks his willingness to turn the boat back into enemy fire. Sorry for all the cliches, BTW. I'm just a sucker for an actual fight, especially when the season is so richly gilded.

I'm still astonished by the NYTimes piece on OK-R Senate Candidate Tom Coburn published on Saturday. As someone who's spouse is in Cockeyed-Coburn's intended line of fire (calling for the "death penalty for abortionists"), I fear this feller. But OK ain't exactly CA, NY or TX, for that matter. My wife reviewed the malpractice case against him as reported late last week. Without getting too far into it, he's a maniac who's no more qualified to comment on abortion than Bill Frist (stick to transplant surgery, Doc). And that's with regard to his actions well before ever taking the oath in the Senate.

If anyone's pissed about last night's Emmy's, it has to be Robert Novak. How many more "Douchebag of Liberty" segments can we expect to see now that The Daily Show's so obviously hotter-than-hot? Many, many more, I'm sure.

On another platform, I'm already mourning Rodney Dangerfield. "Back to School" will always be a fave. If I had a dollar for every time I told my wife, "you can do anything...you're a Mellon" I'd be writing this post from our gorgeous beachside deck. Still, I'm happy to not be reduced to earning $14 the hard way. Be well, Rodney.
